In a world filled with sadness and suffering, where everything is constantly changing, it is not easy for each of us to find a place where we belong. In response to such a world, I try to create, through painting, a space where everyone can be together by bringing my personal experiences and memories together with my inner landscapes. Just as people once left paintings in caves as expressions of their prayers, I believe that painting is a deeply human act that can create a small opening in despair in an unbalanced world. For me, painting is not a way of turning away from reality. It is a way of facing the world and trying to find a place where I belong.
たくさんの悲しみ苦しみが存在し、大きく変化し続ける世界において、それぞれの居場所を見つけることは容易ではない。私は、そうした世界に抵抗するように、個人的な経験や記憶と心象風景を重ね合わせ、だれもが共に居られる空間を絵でつくろうと試みる。人類が洞窟に祈りを込めて絵を残したように、描くという行為は、不均衡な世界の中で絶望に小さな風穴を開ける、根源的な営みであると考える。絵を描くことは現実から目を背けることではなく、世界と向き合い、そこに居場所を見つけようとする行為である。
